Contributions to the IV World Conference on the Sustained Eradication of Child Labor

The International Labor Organization, in coordination with the Government of Argentina, as the organizer of the IV World Conference on the Sustained Eradication of Child Labor, has launched a global consultation aimed at civil society organizations with the aim of collecting inputs for the preparation of Conference documents. The survey, available in Spanish, English and French, can be answered until May  26  at the following links:

The action of civil society has been fundamental over the years and has allowed to motivate the political will of the countries and the world, to prioritize the objective of prevention and eradication of child labor. In Latin America and the Caribbean, its work to raise awareness in society has made visible the risk conditions in which children and adolescents find themselves as a result of the worst forms of child labor. They also carry out advocacy and advocacy work ; they serve minors, their families and communities and accompany public action in specific interventions to reduce cases of child labor, contributing their experience and knowledge.

Consultation from civil society

Parallel to the official consultation, the Subregional Platform on Child and Adolescent Labor and the Global March seek to collect opinions, perceptions and knowledge about what has been done and achieved in terms of the reference frameworks adopted in previous International Conferences (Oslo, The Hague, Brasilia) . To do this, it provides the Declarations of the last conferences and a table of assumed commitments.

About the IV Conference

From November 14 to 16, the IV World Conference on the Sustained Eradication of Child Labor will take place in Buenos Aires - Argentina in order to consolidate the global commitment to accelerate the elimination of child labor between now and 2025, according to the Goal 8.7 of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and move towards a sustainable, just and sustainable society.

In this space, countries and organizations will be able to have a high-level technical exchange on the experiences and good practices implemented to put an end to child labor and thus find better and innovative solutions to achieve the goal. Likewise, this conference will also address forced labor and the promotion of quality youth employment, issues closely linked to the elimination of child labor and which are part of Sustainable Development Goal 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth.
